DreamWorks Animation

The gates to our studio in Glendale, Calif., welcome over 1,400 employees and guests daily. Beyond lie six acres of landscaped grounds with fountains, a river, a lagoon, walking paths and courtyards, along with 460,000 square feet of office space. The architecture and style of the studio take their inspiration from the Mediterranean, with arches and towers finished in warm shades of ochre, russet and stone, silvery olive trees, lush bougainvillea and flowing water.

PDI/DreamWorks, our Northern California facility located in Redwood City, just south of San Francisco, is housed in a crisp modern building that offers expansive views of Redwood City and the surrounding mountains. This campus is home to close to 500 artists, writers, engineers and producers. The open spaces and unique amenities enhance the collaborative nature of the studio.

When the weather permits, our Glendale DreamWorkers like to enjoy their meals outdoors under the olive trees, perhaps overlooking the lagoon or in a shady spot in the loggia. Our lagoon is home to more than 300 koi, ducks and other water-loving creatures. It's a favorite gathering spot for employees, whether to enjoy an alfresco lunch, hold an informal meeting, find inspiration or just take a break.

Throughout the year, DreamWorks Animation employees have many on-campus events and activities to participate in. For example, there are on-campus art shows and craft fairs, weekly movie screenings, artistic development classes and lectures - open to any and all employees - and family days, when friends and family are invited to join us for lunch.

As part of our program to keep our artists inspired and energized, we bring to campus a variety of industry leaders throughout the year to discuss with DreamWorkers topics ranging from screenwriting to motion-capture animation to 3D to life drawing. Here, CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg talks with George Lucas, who shared his experiences as one of the most influential directors of our time.

We've recently been working with Thomson/Technicolor to build an animation enterprise in Bangalore, India. With close to 200 talented artists and production staff there, we are expanding our capabilities and creating opportunities for the studio.
