MICHAEL R. FRANCIS
CHIEF GLOBAL BRAND OFFICER
Michael Francis serves as Chief Global Brand Officer for DreamWorks Animation. In this role, Francis is responsible for the Company’s worldwide branding initiatives, including the branding of all of the intellectual property associated with the studio. Additionally, he is responsible for licensing and consumer products efforts as well as franchise management activities.
Francis previously served as Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Farview Associates, LLC, a global brand agency representing a diverse slate of retail, design and celebrity partners. Prior to this, he was President of J.C. Penney, where he oversaw marketing, merchandising, design and global sourcing. Prior to J.C. Penney, Francis spent more than 26 years with the Target Corporation, ultimately serving as Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer. He was responsible for all marketing, communications and advertising operations.
Advertising Age has named Francis one of the nation’s top marketers and Fast Company has listed him as one of the Top Ten Creative People in marketing and advertising.
Francis serves on the National Board of the Smithsonian Institution, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum. He is also a member of the board of directors of the investment bank Piper Jaffray Companies. Francis graduated from the University of Michigan with a BA in International Studies.
